Explore three Zen Chic quilt patterns featuring DANCE IN PARIS - part 2: DIAMONDS & GREY

Have you noticed that when you are searching for a new quilting pattern, the majority of the ones you see are made of fun, bright fabrics? Sure those quilts are a delight, and usually, you’ll find just what you need.

An elegant quilt

But there are times you wish to make a more elegant piece. Maybe the wall in your dining room or living area could use a beautiful decorating piece. Or you want to make a quilt for the favorite man in your life.

So you try to visualize the quilts on the covers of these patterns in more sophisticated fabrics. However, that is really hard to do and needs some real imagination, right? And you’d wish you found thé pattern in the right toned-down colors.

The perfect pattern, Diamonds & Grey

I’m here to help you with that. In my collection Dance in Paris are some beautiful fabrics in the colors green, grey, and white. Perfect for the stylish feel you’re looking for. I’ve used these fabrics on an older Zen Chic pattern to show you a totally different quilt than the original one on the cover of 2016.

Diamonds & Grey is the second pattern in the series featuring the Dance in Paris collection. Just like the first one, this pattern is also a new edition of an already existing pattern. A few years back, it featured the Hey Dot collection.

If you compare the two pattern covers, you can easily see how different the look of this pattern can be depending on your fabric choices. Hey Dot had a light grey background and funny prints in primary colors. It made the quilt a very happy and bright one.

The Dance in Paris version has a pitch-black background and limits the prints to only the green, grey, and white fabrics of the collection. It makes for a moody and sophisticated quilt with a certain elegance to it.

So you see, this pattern gives you many possibilities to express a specific style or mood. Besides, the pieced diamonds are easy to sew and similar to what you would do with the log cabin technique.

The ideal size

Once your Diamonds & Grey quilt is pieced together it is time to pick out a quilting design that matches and enhances your top. You can do this yourself no doubt, but I recommend bringing it to a professional quilting company. Rachel Hauser from Stitched in Color is my go-to lady.

With the binding in place, this pattern measures 64” x 64”, a nice size to hang on your wall for sure.
