It’s the little things

It was the famous French designer, Hubert de Givenchy who so wisely said, “Luxury is in each detail.” As we go about our busy lives and sometimes get caught up in the “bigger picture” of the day-to-day, it’s nice to be reminded that a small accent, or a thoughtful detail, can make all the difference in how we feel and how we face the day. Maybe it’s that favorite pair of sunglasses, or those shoes that just seem to make any outfit better, or an accessory like a pendant or broach that give us that fabulous feeling of flair and style.

This stylish little pouch, made with a Mochi Linen print from the BREEZE collection, offers that same fun opportunity to bring a little extra ‘something’ to your day. It’s name – Injabulo – indicates a stylish Japanese flair that comes from the kind of closure used for this pouch. You can certainly use all kinds of closures, and Instagram has some great and inspiring examples of alternative closures like buttons, clasps, etc.

In my example, I chose to create a chic style with ribbon that is looped around, giving it a very unique and special look. You can put all kinds of things in this pouch – sunglasses, makeup accessories, pencils, crocheting accessories, threads… Whatever suits your fancy! With this project, you will definitely have an eye-catching and unique accessory that will be fun to both wear and share with others.

This year’s Blockheads adventure is well underway, and so far it’s been a wonderful time! It’s so fun to not only share the blocks each week, but to see all the fantastic, creative, unique ways that people are interpreting these block designs.

This week brings us Block 17, Crossroads, from Moda designer Betsy Chutchian. Betsy is known as one of Moda’s more traditional designers, as is her block design with its flying geese units. To give my block a more modern look, I applied a gradient in my color choices so it appears as if beams are coming from a star. How will you interpret this block? I’d love to see it!
