Pour l'Amour du Fil 2022 - A Round-Up Tour of the Show

Let’s go back to Nantes and let me show you around Pour l’Amour du Fil

Let me take you back and tell you how I experienced this fantastic show in Nantes.

This year the show was all about presenting the Australian artists. Eight wonderful guests of honor from Down Under, one artist from the US, and me, the German artist representing Europe were featured in this year’s show.

Bringing traditional and modern quilting together

I was also there to represent the ultra-modern sector in Nantes. The French audience is mostly traditional-oriented; they love old historic quilts and fabrics. Quiltmania, the organizer of this event tries to be a mediator bringing the new things around the world to the table, so they organized a balanced show. There was something for traditional quilters as well as for us modern ones.

Exhibitions, presentations, and classes

Besides the exhibition of well-known artists, there were a lot of shops where you could easily empty your wallets by buying beautiful fabrics, yarn, and everything you could possibly need for your hobby. There were free workshops to try out in the Make & Take Lab, tutorials presented on stage learning all about different techniques.

The students in my classes made beautiful pillowcases using the building blocks from my newest book published by Quiltmania and introduced on the show. More on that in an upcoming video.

Beautiful surroundings

Pour l’Amour du Fil is not only about quilting, but also about stitching, embroidery, knitting, and crocheting. It’s such an inspiring show to visit. The location is beautiful as well. The show hall is in a park in Nantes, where you can take your breaks outdoors.

After the show, I encourage you to visit the city. Nantes has so much flair. Stroll through all the little streets and eat some good French food. It is so worth the travel, not only for people who live close by but definitely for those coming from abroad.

It’s a magnificent event and I invite everybody to come to this yearly show next time in 2023.

Teaching another class!

If you missed the Nantes event and my class there, I can share this exciting news with you. I will be teaching another class in Lochem, the Netherlands, on Saturday, May 21, 2022.

Magreet Otto will open up her shop for a meet and greet. We will also have a workshop where I demonstrate the Jewels quilting pattern. You can read more on Magreet’s website.

Hope to see you there!
