“Where to go” for some awesomeness? Don’t look any further!

I’m very excited to be the host for this week and I’m also delighted to tell you that Moda is generously giving away a Layer Cake from my brand-new line Quotation, which hit the stores just a few weeks ago.

This Layer Cake is perfect to create the Prism quilt, a new pattern from Zen Chic. So if you need some inspiration or an idea of what to do with it, should you win (fingers crossed!), this would be a perfect pattern to try.

And to make it even more interesting, we will have a huge pattern sale this weekend starting on Friday, December 4, 2020. You will get up to 35% off on any Zen Chic pattern of your choice.

So stay tuned and don’t forget to return to the shop on Friday. Maybe you would like to get a reminder? Then I suggest you sign up for our newsletter, so we can stay in touch and keep you updated and send you all the information on the sale.

On to this week’s block. As I said before, I’m the host for this week. My block is called Where to Go.

For me, it has a certain meaning because often you don’t know exactly in life what your next step should be. What choice is the best to go for or which path do you wanna take? To the left, to the right, you are puzzled. You feel confused and you know you need some guidance.

I find my guidance mostly by connecting with my inner self, listening to my inner voice. I like to interconnect with some inner wisdom especially when I get quiet and I would even say it’s also a bond to a spiritual dimension.

Because this is so dear to my heart, I thought it could be a theme for a block. And that’s why I created the block with the two arrows. It is totally up to you whether you decide if they go in opposite directions or if you would like them better when they go in the same direction. That’s what I went for in my little placemat.

Sew a cute DIY placemat with Block 47 in fun pastel retro colors. Wouldn’t that make for a cool gift?

I love creating a project for you where you can use the block other than in the sampler quilt from Moda. When I was thinking about a fun project, this placemat came to mind. The arrows on the block serve as two little pockets. One for your cutlery and one for your napkin.

To show you how it would turn out, I made my placemat with pastel retro colors on a graphite background. I think it looks quite happy, fresh, modern, and inviting. Don’t you think?

Of course, you can totally go for other fabrics. What about some from the new Quotation line or black-and-white fabrics only? Another option would be natural linen using my Mochi Linen line. I’m sure you come up with the perfect combo for your table.

To help you make this cheerful placemat, I’ve put together a material list and sewing instructions in a PDF download. Just click the button below.

For some extra inspiration (which you can never have enough of, right?), I created a visual quilt idea using only this block. It is called “Total Confusion” and you can see why! I think this would make an amazing Christmas gift and maybe you already know the person to give it to. This is just an inspiration on how to play with the block - I’m sure you can come up with many more ideas.
