Setting new quilting goals for 2022 - Zen Chic is lending a hand

Does it happen to you that you come across a beautiful pattern or an amazing collection and you just want to make that quilt or use those gorgeous fabrics for a fun project? But… you are in the middle of something else and you just don’t have the time. Oh if only you had known this was coming up.

Planning your quilting projects

Planning ahead is the answer you are looking for. Just as with setting goals for other things like losing weight (the all-time favorite after the holidays) or finally decluttering your crafting room, you want to set goals for your quilting projects as well.

When you know what you wanna make during the coming year you can properly prepare for it. Sometimes fabric collections are so loved and popular that by the time you are ready to start using them you can’t find them in any store any longer. The collection is sold out.

Let’s first look back

However, you can avoid this by mapping out your projects. But let’s first review what you’ve accomplished this year. It’s always fun to look back and see what you’ve done and which projects you finished. Making notes on the different projects is a good learning experience too. And learning your skills have expand is a real booster for your confidence. Maybe you want to try something a little bit more complicated in the next year.

Your work in progress

Next, make a list of your work in progress. Especially when you are the type of person that starts on different projects simultaneously. It’s important to understand what you are working on and how long these will take you to finish before you want to start something new.

Set your quilting goals

Now for the fun part. Let’s look at what is out there and set some quilting goals. Your favorite designer (wink, wink) and fabric stores are planning ahead as well and some will post what’s in store for their fans and customers. Here at Zen Chic, we are preparing for 2022 too. This is what we have planned so far.

Bauhaus Quilt Along

To celebrate the new collection Even More Paper in the series Modern Background, we are organizing a Quilt Along. It starts at the beginning of February and together we will sew the Bauhaus quilt. Put this event on your calendar and join in the fun! You can sign up here and read more about what it all entails.

Three upcoming Zen Chic fabric collections in 2022

Besides the just launched fabric collection Even More Paper we have planned to launch three more fabric lines in the coming year. Let’s take a look at them, shall we?

Celestial

Early 2022, the modern sophisticated fabric collection Celestial is coming to stores. This line has a minimalistic Scandinavian touch, perfect for beautiful wall pieces, home decoration, and even stylish clothing.

Accompanying Celestial fabrics, we have developed 4 patterns. Celestial Stripes, Celestial X & Plus, Half the Way, and Jewels. Which one is your favorite?

Frisky

This youthful collection is planned to ship to stores in April of 2022. Think about summer and you think about warm lazy days. The Frisky fabrics have that same overall warm summer feeling. Perfect to plan a trendy quilt to take on a picnic in the summer or make a handy beach bag.

Of course, Frisky comes with a few fun patterns as well. We have for you Dot by Dot, Hexagon Love, Pluses, Spotted Geese, and Summertime. Plan your quilt right now!

Lazy Afternoon

Lazy Afternoon collection is another fun line coming in August of 2022. It represents the garden feel, showing the main print of pears, the playful multi-colored yarn balls, and bi-colored prints like the knitting needles. Other geometric prints with dots in all kinds of patterns make the coordinates that pull the complete collection together.

We haven’t developed patterns for this collection yet. But keep your eye out for these.

A Quilting Planner

To make planning a bit easier, we have made a quilt project planning sheet for you. What I like to do is print out a couple of them and put them in a binder. You can use protective sheets to keep your fabric swatches nice and clean. This is also a great way to see what you have accomplished by the end of 2022.

You can find the quilt project planning sheet in the free resource library. Don’t have the password yet? Fill out this form and you’ll get it straight into your inbox.

Thank you so much for 2021

Remember to plan ahead if you want to make (some of) these quilts, so you don’t miss out on the fabrics you need to put them together.

Furthermore, we want to thank you, our customers and readers, for your interest in Zen Chic's work and inspiration. We wish you all a happy new year and hope you will stay healthy during these challenging times.

Happy planning and see you in 2022!

P.S. our winner of last week’s giveaway!
