Let's Sew Together with Sewcialites - Block 1 of Fat Quarter Shop’s Free Quilt Along

SEWIALITES SEW ALONG, BLOCK 1 - free quilt along hosted by Fatquartershop. This block is called HARMONY, brought to you by Lissa Alexander. Fabrics used in this block are SPOTTED and PAPER by Zen Chic.

We’re celebrating our quilting community with a free block of the week quilt along. Fatquartershop joined forces with 18 talented designers to bring you a 38-week quilt along with amazing sampler blocks and sew many options! I’m happy to be one of the contributing designers. The blocks that can be made in three different sizes, 3″, 6″, or 9″.  You’ll get one block a week for 38 weeks. The fun starts Friday, September 25th, and runs through June 25th, 2021!

There is also a Facebookgroup, which you are invited to join, you will find it here.

Starting with a weekly sew along with 18 well-known quilt designers.

All blocks are simply pieced, and each one is rated for difficulty.  The Fat Quarter Shop will be using the “Homestead” fabric line by April Rosenthal.and every block uses only a background fabric and one print.  I am following along with block graphics, which give you my design ideas and once I am the host, I have of course my real sewn sample block to show.

My fabric choices

My design idea for this quilt will be a nice choice of earthy tones of the SPOTTED fabrics, and for the background fabrics, I will show you suggestions of PAPER.

My fabric choices for the SEWCIALTIES QUILT ALONG: Earthy tones of Spotted fabrics. I will combine those with low volume backgrounds.

This week your host will be LISSA ALEXANDER, so hop over to her blog post for more info and also for the sewing instructions of this block

Inspired by Tracy Bes from the Sewcialites Facebook Group I changed my layout a bit. She played with a couple of ideas and the cross layout looked very modern and striking to me. So with her allowance I jumped on that train and just rearranged the middle blocks a bit. So this is my layout for our Sew Along:

This is the Zen Chic version of the free SEWCIALITES Sew Along, hosted by FatQuarterShop. My layout is inspired by Tracy Bes from the Sewcialites Lounge.
