A block born out of love
Welcome back to another week of the Fat Quarter Shop Quilt Along, Sewcialites. I’m eager to present to you this new block because it’s another beautiful one. So let’s find out all about it!
Our host for this week is designer Bonnie Olaveson. This wonderful lady is in business for a very long time already. She started out in 1990 by making dolls in a time when dolls were very popular and everyone was making them. Maybe you remember Long Leggings? Those were Bonnie’s.
After 10 years of dollying around, Bonnie was ready for another challenge and quilting came into her life. And to this day, she is still hooked on the little pieces of scrap fabric to make beautiful quilts and designing her patterns for her quilting customers.
Having a family with daughters, it was bound to happen that the quilting bug would spread. So now one of her daughters is designing fabrics with her and they love to quilt together.
The block Bonnie designed for this week’s Sewcialites is called Kindred Block. I believe the inspiration for this block might be Bonnie’s love for her family.
Anyway, it’s another lovely one for your sampler quilt. And if you want to you can even feature it on a quilt on its own. Well, actually you can do that with all the free blocks from this Quilt Along, right?
