Zen Chic 2022 Pluses Quilt Along - Week 3 Sewing The Large Plus Blocks
I'm thrilled to be participating in this quilt along with you! It's been a joy to watch some of you make your first quilts and others who are making their first plus signs quilt.
And it's time to add our large Plus Signs to the Growing Pluses quilt.

Regarding sewing, there's nothing particularly tricky about this block. In fact, it is pretty easy and every beginner can do it.
For the large bed size quilt, I used a Layer Cake from my new line FRISKY since such a precut bundle gives me all the variety of a complete collection on a budget.
For the smaller quilts, lap-size, and baby-size, you are more economic with a Fat Eight assortment. Just a couple of your favorites are good to go.
The only thing when inserting any blocks into an irregular grid, like ours here is, that the blocks have to have the exact right measurements.
Do you also struggle sometimes and end up with a block that is 1/8 to 1/4" too small or too large?
I struggled with that problem for quite a time. Once I figured out how to set up my machine in the best possible way it made all the difference for me! I made this tutorial on my Youtube channel on how to sew the perfect 1/4" seam, which is what we need for this quilt along.
I never really knew how important it was to be precise in sewing. It's not something we talk about much because it seems like common sense but I've learned that there are so many people out there who don't know how to do it properly or don't care enough to even try.
