Quilting is serious business, right? We want our quilts to look their best. With straight seams, no bulkiness, and just darn amazing!
That is what I love about sampler quilts and Quilt Alongs like Fat Quarter Shop’s Sewcialites project. You get to play a little with all kinds of great patterns and blocks. Maybe you end up with a favorite block and even a favorite designer. I hope you pick me… just kidding!
But all kidding aside, we always strive toward a beautiful quilt, even if it is a sampler one. I’m positive your Sewcialites quilt is coming along nicely. Especially with this week’s block.
Our designer of the week is the lovely Vanessa Christenson of V & Co. She made a block called Earnest. Vanessa is the queen of ombre fabrics. A real splash of color dominates her corner of the web.
For my block, I chose Dusty Teal from my Spotted collection. It’s a lovely color in my opinion and it fits in perfectly in my sampler quilt.
If you are someone that loves looking at other people’s blocks (I know I do!), then you need to join the Sewcialites Lounge on Facebook. Your fellow quilters are sharing their blocks. Every week it amazes me that so many different-looking blocks come from just one design. In the Lounge, we not only share our blocks, but we also help each other out when one should hit a rough spot. It’s a great group to be part of.
Another nice perk of this Quilt Along is the ability to win some great prizes. When you post your photo of your block on Instagram, use the hashtag #SewcialitesQAL. When you do, you are automatically in the drawing for a monthly prize sponsored by big companies like Moda, Aurifill, and Creative Grids.
