Four Patterns. One Collection. Zero Excuses Not to Start.

April 8, 2026 Brigitte Heitland

(The MIRA patterns are here — and yes, I made one for you too.)

Last week you met MIRA. You admired her. Some of you sent the loveliest messages. A few of you immediately started plotting your fabric order.

And I heard the question loud and clear: "Okay, but what do I make with her?"

Answer: these four patterns. Designed specifically for MIRA, from the ground up. Each one a different mood, a different skill level, a different way of letting these fabrics do their quiet, confident thing.

Let me introduce them properly.

1. Urban Grid

Beginner · Finished Size 48" x 48"

Let me start with the one that made me grin like an idiot at my sewing machine.

Urban Grid is the “two-fabric, zero-drama” pattern in the MIRA family. And yes, I know how that sounds. Two fabrics? That’s it? Where’s the catch?

There isn’t one.

Because the real trick isn’t complexity. It’s confidence. Those tall, clean rectangles are sized around the golden ratio, so the whole quilt has this calm, of-course-this-works rhythm. You don’t have to overthink it. The layout does the heavy lifting, and the negative space? Oh, she shows up and does her job.

Construction-wise, it’s as friendly as it gets: straight seams, simple rectangles, no fussy points waiting to ruin your mood. But here’s the one place you do want to be a little picky: fabric scale. This design wants a large-scale print for the rectangles so the pattern can actually breathe. A tiny print will behave… but it’ll flatten the magic.

And the best part? This one is basically begging to be kitted. Two fabrics. One bold finish. Maximum “look what I made” energy.

Perfect for: absolute beginners, anyone who wants a quick win, and modern wall-quilt lovers who like their quilts crisp and clever.

2. Shadow Path

Confident Beginner · Finished Size 64" x 64"

Shadow Path is the one that looks like it has opinions.

Those bold zigzags show up like, “Hi, yes, I am the moment.” And I love that for them. But here’s the delicious little secret: it’s not nearly as complicated as it looks.

This pattern is built with strips, which means you get speed and accuracy without needing to babysit a million tiny pieces. It’s the kind of quilting that feels satisfyingly clever: you sew calmly, and somehow the quilt comes out looking like you did advanced math.

And if you’re the “I like to be extra precise” type (no judgment, I see you), you can absolutely paper piece it too. The pattern plays nicely either way.

One thing worth knowing before you start dreaming up photos: the grey background fabric tends to photograph darker on the pattern cover than it actually is. In real life it reads softer and lighter, more warm mist than storm cloud, which gives the whole quilt a calmer, airier feel as in the detail pictures below.

And because MIRA is generous like that, this design would look just as stunning in the black-and-white palette or those sandy warm tones. Same pattern. Totally different mood.

Perfect for: confident beginners with a bit of strip-piecing under their belt, and anyone who wants bold graphics with a calm, neutral soul.

3. Nordic Echo

Intermediate (but don't let that scare you) · Finished Size 49" x 49"

Nordic Echo is the one that looks like you casually threw some rectangles on a design wall… and the universe applauded.

Because there are no blocks here. No tidy grid. No “make twelve identical units and chain-piece until you forget your own name.” Instead, it’s a composition that feels almost random. Almost. And that’s what makes it so good: every piece is exactly where it needs to be, even when it’s pretending it isn’t.

The little plus sign pulls your eye right into the center, the pumpkin accent warms up all that graphite and black, and suddenly the whole quilt has this quiet, modern energy that feels like art you can actually live with.

Now let’s talk fear factor, because I can already hear someone whispering, “Intermediate??”

Here’s the truth: the cuts are easy. The seams are straight. It’s all rectangles, all the way down.

The challenge is the sequence. You’re building it like a puzzle, and the satisfaction comes from watching it click into place, step by step, until the chaos turns into composition. And the instructions walk you through that order clearly, so you’re not left guessing with a seam ripper in your hand and regret in your heart.

Perfect for: quilters who want something that looks unconventional without being technically overwhelming, and anyone ready to break up with the block grid (just for a weekend).

4. Scandi Hours

Intermediate · Finished Size 61" x 61"

Scandi Hours is the pattern for the quilter who looks at a full fat quarter bundle and thinks: Yes. I want all of it. In one quilt. Immediately.

This one uses all 24 prints from MIRA, and the big, bold hourglass blocks give every fabric its own little moment on stage. The construction actually moves faster than you’d expect because the blocks are generous. It’s not fussy. It’s decisive.

But here’s what makes Scandi Hours quietly brilliant: that hourglass block isn’t a square.

It’s a 3:4 rectangle.

That tiny twist changes everything. It gives the quilt that calm Scandinavian “of course it looks this good” vibe instead of the more expected, symmetrical look you’ve seen a hundred times before.

Now, I’m not going to sugarcoat it: those proportions mean bias edges and unconventional angles, so this is best for quilters who are already friends with accuracy. Not perfection. Just… comfortable with the idea that your ruler matters and your pressing is doing real work here.

If you love a pattern that feels a little adventurous, looks like modern design, and uses the entire MIRA wardrobe in one go, this is your quilt.

Perfect for: experienced quilters, fat quarter bundle lovers, and anyone who wants one big, beautiful “I meant to do that” project.

One More Thing I Want to Tell You

MIRA is my last collection with Moda.
Yes. That sentence deserves a little silence.

Not because it’s sad. Not because anything is over. But because it marks a real moment. The kind you feel in your chest before you can explain it.

This isn’t an ending. It’s a hinge. A door swinging open.
Something is shifting at Zen Chic. Something exciting. Something I’m not quite ready to unpack today… but I will next week. And if April has already felt like a lot, let’s just say: you’re only seeing the first chapter.

For now, I just want you to know this:
I poured everything I had into MIRA.

Every print. Every proportion. Every color decision. Every quiet “yes” and every stubborn “no, it has to be this.” She’s carrying a lot of love. And if we’re being honest, she’s also carrying a little bit of that feeling you get when you want to leave the room with your head high and your heart full.
A high note.
And I think she hits it beautifully… don’t you? 🤍

Stay close. More very soon.

Not Sure Which One Is Yours?

Here's a quick cheat sheet:

You're newer to quilting → Start with Urban Grid. Two fabrics, straight lines, maximum impact.

You've made a few quilts → Shadow Path. Strip sets, bold design, very satisfying.

You want something that looks like art → Nordic Echo. It breaks the rules. Beautifully.

You're ready for a real project → Scandi Hours. The whole bundle, one gorgeous quilt.

One More Thing — The Thread to Match

Because if you’re going to pour your heart into a quilt, you deserve thread that doesn’t throw a tantrum halfway through.

So yes, I went and did the very Zen Chic thing: I teamed up with Aurifil and curated a box of 12 perfectly neutral shades, and it is perfect for MIRA. Crisp whites. Creamy ivories. Warm sands. Soft greys. Deep charcoals. Rich blacks. Basically, the quietly gorgeous “goes-with-everything” wardrobe your quilt has been begging for.

And this isn’t a “pretty box that lives on a shelf” situation.

This is the thread I actually use in my own sewing room. It’s smooth, it’s strong, it behaves beautifully, and every shade was chosen to play nicely with MIRA whether you’re piecing, quilting, or finishing.

A Small But Important Note on the Fabrics

I know. Some of you are already doing the very normal, very reasonable thing of asking: “Okay Bridget… where do I actually buy MIRA?”

Here’s the scoop: she’s on her way.
The fabrics will be landing in shops over the next four weeks, and yes, you can pre-order now so you’re right at the front of the line when the bolts hit the shelves.

Pre-order MIRA fabrics here

But here’s the part I don’t want you to miss:
The patterns are ready right now.
Which means you can do the fun, cozy, satisfyingly in-control part first. You can choose your pattern, plan your version, maybe even pull a few “candidate” solids from your stash like you’re auditioning background fabrics. And when MIRA arrives?
You’re not scrambling. You’re not guessing. You’re not panic-cutting at midnight.
You’re ready to cut like you’ve been waiting for her your whole life.

Smart move, if you ask me.

20% Off — This Week Only

All four MIRA patterns are available in my shop right now at 20% introductory discount — no code needed, the price is already adjusted.

This offer ends Sunday at midnight.

After that, full price. (They're worth it either way. But why not?)

Happy sewing — and welcome to the MIRA chapter. 🤍
